Why Register on Search Engines?
Your domain name should be registered with all of the major search engines. The registration process assures that your company can be
found. It will also allow users who do not know your comapny name, to search by topic, name fragments or industry.
The registration process differs from search engine to search engine. Typically information is submitted in a certain manner to the search
engine. The search engine will usually verify the information by sending a spider or web bot to your listed site to verrify its existance and index it on its search list.
The relevance of a seach affects how high in a listing your web site appears as a result of the quesry posted by the user.
Different sites use different techniques to determine this rating. Some look at information in the META tags, others look to the content returned by the spider, and some have routines that kick out sites that simply repeat the same key word over and over again. Typically it is a combination of the above. Also, some engines have difficulty navigating through frames so if your site uses frames, your registration with those sites is more complicated.
